- Is there an
incumbent contractor for the operation of Fermilab?
Answer:
Yes. The incumbent
contractor is Universities Research Association, Inc. (URA). Detailed
information about URA can be obtained at http://www.ura-hq.org/.
- Can you provide
specific information about the current Fermilab contract (i.e.,
contract number, contract type, award date, duration and total value).
Answer:
- The
current Fermilab contract number is DE-AC02-76CH03000.
- The
contract is for the Management and Operation of Fermilab and is
a "Cost Reimbursement, Performance Fee" type contract.
- The
current contract term is January 1, 2002 with an expiration date
of December 31, 2006.
- The
total value to date, over the term of the current contract, is $1,265,165,328.00.
This estimate is based on FY 2002 - FY 2005 funding.
- What is the
period of performance anticipated for the new contract?
Answer:
The anticipated
period of performance for the new contract is currently
undecided. However, it will be included in the draft RFP.
- What will
be the value of the new contract?
Answer:
The estimated
total value of the contract is largely dependent upon the term of
the contract and the Federal budget. At this time, we are only able
to provide a budget number for the last fiscal year (2005), which
was $318 million. Better estimates will be provided in the draft RFP.
- What is the
estimated RFP release date?
Answer:
The RFP release
date is undetermined at this time. However, we anticipate issuing
a draft RFP in the second quarter of FY 2006.
- Who is the
Freedom of Information Officer (FOIA) associated with the Fermilab
contract?
Answer:
To ensure that
potential bidders have pertinent, accurate and timely information
available to them, we have created an RFP website. The website is
located at URL http://rfpfnal.sc.doe.gov.
This is the official website for the Fermilab solicitation and contains
many informative documents, including the current Fermilab contract.
The number of documents included on the website will be updated as
requests are received and/or DOE identifies others that are determined
to be of benefit to potential bidders. Interested parties are advised
of a SUBSCRIBE feature on the website, which will allow individuals
to subscribe for automatic receipt of notice(s) regarding updates
that are made to the RFP website.
